Twinkle, twinkle

SAM_9402

This is a lovely little star quilt made by Carol Anne and brought to me to be long armed.  I love the country colours set against the neutrals. Always a classic.

Tea for Two, Three, Four

SAM_9920SAM_9922
These were the little centerpieces on the tables at the shower for my daughter. They were placed atop a set of three stacked vintage books. The cups were filled with a silk hydrangea, dressed up with pink paper roses, and cute little butterflies. I got these lovely little diamond pins which I added to each of the roses, just for bling. Each cup a saucer was a different design. I made a total of ten, scouring vintage shops for cup and saucers in pink or rose colors.

Pyramid Scheme

SAM_9400

Linda brought this very modern baby quilt to me to be quilted…new mom’s nowadays are  so untraditional and are making their nursery's fresh and funky and modern…I love it. When I had the kids we had the option of  Winnie the Pooh or Care Bears. Very, very boring. The options are endless now along with colour pallet and furniture choices.  I love Linda’s color combination…specially ordered from the mom to be.

Showered with Love

SAM_9907
If you've followed my blog for a while you probably noticed that I was absent for some time. I was a bit overwhelmed with doing crafty things for my daughter’s wedding and shower…Now that these have come and gone I can get back to business and share with you some of the overwhelming details.
Her shower was held at Niagara Parks Whirlpool Golf Club. A beautiful setting with large open windows, overlooking the golf course along the Niagara Parkway.
We wanted a vintage theme to both the shower and the wedding and had vintage touches everywhere from old shutters, to antique cups and saucers on a vintage stacked book display.

What’s in your wallet again

SAM_9552
I told you I love making these wallets from Cool Cat Creations. The patterns call for strips but I changed it up by using  Pellon On Point fusible grid. Super easy to get a great patchwork look without all the work. This style has to be my favourite so far, but I'm pretty confident I’m not finished with fooling around with these…..

What’s in your wallet

SAM_9441
I absolutely love making these wallets and I absolutely love teaching this class at Kindred Spirits Quilt Co. They make up in about a half a day class(once you’ve mastered one) and are great little gifts for friends and family. The pattern is from Cool Cat Creations and the pattern is called Little Bits.

The long haul

SAM_9366

That’s what I’ve committed to when I started making this “Little Bits” Diamond Log Cabin paper pieced pattern. Teeny, tiny, itty bitty pieces that go on and on and on…not for the faint of heart for sure. It will look stunning when it’s finished…I just need to keep plugging away.

A great way to use up your scraps!

It’s a jungle out there

SAM_9398
Linda, one of my regular quilting customers was at it again, whipping up some of the cutest baby quilts around. I love the border print…how adorable. She always comes up with the greatest ideas….love it. I’ve noticed that her quilting has diminished in numbers lately…could it be because she is now the proud Grandma of twin boys…I bet they are keeping her busy and entertained!

Market Inspiration Day 2

SAM_0090

Fig Tree and Pieces from my Heart had 2 of the most inspirational booths at the show. I loved the Q-tip flower balls…great idea, need to keep that in mind.

SAM_0097SAM_0098

Hugs’ n Kisses had her fabulous display of Hexie projects, A Fashionista Studio had this cute as a button quilt displayed, and I  picked up the easy templates for the folded star class.

With all I purchased I am pretty well set for the next ten years………..I just need to find more time somewhere!

Market Highlights Day 1

SAM_0066SAM_0067SAM_0068SAM_0069

I was like a kid in a candy store…all my favourite designers with all their brand new patterns and fabric.

I purchased some of my favourites so that I could get a head start on class samples for the store.

Amy Bradley was probably my favourite and I picked up quite a few patterns from her booth. I have lots of requests for more doll classes so her new Quilter pattern will be perfect.

Lynette Anderson’s new quilt, Daisy Chain Cottage along with Color Love by Nancy Rink are in my top 10 list.

Fun at Market

SAM_0019SAM_0010

Friday was the 1st day officially open for Market  and we landed by about 11am. No sooner got there, Amy was looking for food.

We had fun at the Olfa booth…..Can you imagine how quickly you could cut fabric with this size rotary cutter!

SAM_0031SAM_0032SAM_0033

I absolutely love the new McKenna Ryan quilt called “And on that farm”….love it, love it…Please Michelle can we do it! Even got the matching tattoo.

SAM_0021SAM_0022

I had the darnedest time trying to reign Michelle and Amy in, all they wanted to do was eat and fool around with the prop displays.

SAM_0051SAM_0053SAM_0065

After an exhausting day of  stimulation it was good to sit and have a few drinks and dinner at the Sharp Edge, where we sampled a fabulous raspberry beer.
